Salvinorin A ___________________ Trippin' Reasons: Unknown.

Salvinorin A is the main active substance in Salvia Divinorum. It is the most potent natural psychoactive known (based on the quantity of the substance necessary to reach breakthrough effects)... it is even compared with LSD, although it's effects are in no way similar to those of any other substance such as mescalin, psylocibyn and LSDThis psychedelic is still surrounded by mystery in the scientific community, no one knows exactly how it works on the human mind yet. As I was browsing the web, I found a really interesting article about this chemical by Sasha Shlugin, answering the question: Do you know how Salvinorin A works?... You can find the article here
Ok, now take a look at the molecular structure below. If you are like me and spent your chemistry classes hitting on the cutie sitting behind, this graphic won't tell you much, but basically this graphic shows that Salvinorin A is composed of 59 atoms, while LSD, for example, has 49.
Can you guess where I'm going with this?... See, if LSD, considered a highly complex substance and the most powerful psychedelic known, has 49 atoms and its effects are hardly explained (even though in nature we can find similar chemicals, like in the Ipomea Violacea Morning Glory, Ololiuqui etc. which contain LSA, for example) imagine how difficult it can be to know and understand Salvinorin-A's mechanism of action, having 10 more atoms than LSD and being totally unrelated to any other psychedelic chemicals known to date.
