Escaping my body
by Nicole Ferreira
It was my nineteenth birthday; I was parked down by the water with my best friend. I have smoked salvia many times before this one so I knew what to expect, but I had no idea that this experience would be so different, amazing, and eye opening. I packed a bowl of salvia 20x and took four hits. I have never felt this sensation before and I still struggle to explain it, but it was like opening a fan and seeing the world in different quadrants. Colors ebbing and flowing creating shapes and showing the world to me with such a new beauty that I had never seen. For a moment I was gripped with fear I knew I was leaving my body. I began to panic, "Kristen talk to me, kristen talk to me, kristen talk to me" I said over and over. That's when it happened. I said (It wasn't until after that I found out I never said these things out loud) "It's okay, I'm at peace." Out of pure relaxation and contentment I removed my foot from the brake of my car (my car was in park) my car lurched forward slightly from my foot being removed (Kristen later informed me I was unconscious) "Don't worry the car's in park" I thought I said out loud. I floated outside my window and looked back to see my sleeping body and a very scared Kristen in my red pontiac. I floated to the water with only a glowing silver thread tying me to my human body. I walked onto the water, feeling a consistency that is impossible to describe under my feet. Walking on the glassy surface I sat and meditated for what seemed hours before a jerk on my silver thread sent me hurdling towards my body. "NICOLE!" I looked over and smiled, "Kristen?" I quietly mumbled. To this day she swears I stopped breathing. The peace and calm serenity that engulfed me changed a lot of the way I think. This was an utterly spiritual experience for me. Being outside my body gave me an entirely new perspective. It was so enlightening and truly was magical.
